Sally Hanson's 5 minute French Manicure Pen Kit

I love French Manicures!

While in Rite Aid, I noticed the Sally Hanson's 5 Minute French Manicure Pen kit.  I had never tried this kit before.  I noticed the kits were on clearance.  For $1.65, I was willing to give it a try.  I could easily see that the polishes were not dried up, but I wasn't so certain about the white solution in the pen.  I followed the directions in preparing the pen for application.  It went fairly well.  The pen made it simple.  If you feel you don't have a steady handy the kit also includes sticker guides.  I've never had great success with those.  I did a good job without the guides. This is a great way to extend your professionally done French Manicure.

If you're like me and love French Manicures, check this product out.  The original price range is $5-$8.  However, check to see if your local Rite Aid has the kits on clearance and get you one.

Updates

Happy New Year and all that good stuff.  2011 was not one of my best years, so I am glad to be here in 2012 to make it a GREAT year.

I decided to provide some updates since it's been awhile since I lasted posted.
  • My son had a few doctor appointments and have more to come. He was measured for his brace. The brace was made and my son has been wearing it. Initially, he wore the brace for an hour and increase by an hour daily until he could wear it practically all day to include the night.  I do not make him wear it to school as I'm afraid he will lose it at school.  He is suppose to take it off for gym and well, I know my son and the other kids around him.  This brace is expensive and I don't want to take the chance.  The doctor would like for him to begin to wear it to school, so he will on the days he does not have gym.
  • I spent some time in the hospital.  I am currently working on my health.
  • Stress is not good and I have been in the process of eliminating stress from my life (i.e., stressful people, stressful situations etc.)
  • I've had some issues at my home, which contractors will fix (stress that I unfortunately cannot eliminate on my own)
  • My son and I are going through the "Middle School" blues!  I really never knew it was that big of an adjustment.  It definitely is for boys.

Smile at someone for no reason ;-)

My Son has Scoliosis

I took my son for his wellness check up and everything was going well.  Weight on point, blood pressure good, eyes, ears, nose, throat...all good.  He received his required shot, no problems.  Then, I inquired about something.

When  my son  was younger, he complained about his back and I had the doctor take a look at it.  At that time, the doctor stated, he had a very slight curve, nothing to really be concerned with, but that they would monitor it. So, after the doctor completed all of the exams on my son, I asked him to check my sons back as he has complained about back pain to the point where he is in tears and he constantly asks me for massages.  Sometimes, it feels doctors are quick to downplay your symptoms, so I informed him, I had purchased new mattresses and that he still complains of back pain.

Initially, the doctor did a quick look of the spine and showed me that his spine had not worsen.  Then, he had my son bend down touching his ankles and to my surprise and his, the doctor saw definite signs of scoliosis.  He was so concerned, it made me nervous.  He stated, that this is what happens, typically children are monitored with no alarming signs, and then, around the beginning of a child's growth spurt noticeable signs appear.

All of the urgency frightened my son (and me).  The doctor recommended that my son be seen by a specialist.  We have an appointment with a specialist at Children's Hospital.  The doctor stated, the specialist more than likely will recommend that my son wear a brace for a certain amount of time each day and that surgery would be the last recommendation.

I have provided a link for those of you who would like more info on Scoliosis.

Please keep my son in prayer as to not having to have surgery.  Thank you all.

30 Days of Thankfulness: Day 5

So, I told yall I've been in a funk.  Well, I am attempting to shake it off.

An old friend contacted me through Facebook, which put a smile on my face.  Funny thing is while he was looking me up, I was looking up someone else.  I discovered, the person I was searching for is married now and has what looked to be a two to three year old and his wife is currently expecting.  Yeah, didn't even send a friend request. (I just really wanted to possibly have lunch and catch up with him, but again I see he is doing just fine).

I am happy that he is happy because at the time when we started dating he had just got a divorce and he wasn't handling it well.  He loved his first wife, but she cheated on him and he was willing to try to make it work, but she wanted out.  At the time, I too, was just out of a relationship and basically what I now know was the crutch me consoling someone whose wife left him as well (nothing but drama).  So, I sorta jetted (well, I told him that he needed time to himself to let go of his ex-wife before attempting to move on to another relationship) as this was deja vu .  It was just too many, "my wife use to wear her hair like you" for me.  So, again, I am happy for him.  He and his current wife, from the pictures, seem to be happy.

The friend that looked me up...well, he says I'm the one that got away.  He's in a funk too...lol.  In my mind, funk + funk = stinks.  He currently is going through something with his wife...errupt, that's all I needed to hear.  I'm moving forward, not backwards.

Today, I am thankful for Old Friends, Life Lessons and Common Sense.

Kiss your hubby, your wifey and tell them you love them ;-)

30 Days of Thankfulness: Day 4

In a "funk" is what I am.  I've been this way for about two or three days.  TODAY, I decided, I'm going to shake it off.  I don't like feeling this way.  After reading some scriptures, famous quotes and the local and national news headlines, I am thankful!

Today, I am thankful for my SPIRITUALITY and knowing no matter what,  I am truly blessed.(It's got to rain sometimes, right?)  My sunshine will shine brightly once again!

Do a good deed for a stranger today?
Hug your child[ren] and tell them how proud you are of them.
Kiss your spouse/significant other and when they ask, "What was that for?"  Tell them, "Just because...". (give them a wink too ;-)

30 Days of Thankfulness: Day 3

I am thankful for my SON.

Oh, he's a handful, but I love him so much.  I don't think I've ever loved anyone more.  When he hurts, I hurt.  Sometimes when I feel down, he lifts me up.  When I need a hug, he is always there to provide one.  Raising a child[ren] is work.  Being a single parent is double the work.  I pray everyday that I am making the right decisions regarding him.  Most decisions I make, I ponder how it will effect him now and in the future.

With all the media reports of parents and or adults abusing(or even worse) their kids, it's just sad.  Yes, my son can irk a nerve, but I just send him to his room or I'll go to another area just to regroup.  Sometimes you have to put yourself in time out.

May little Caylee R.I.P.
I don't think justice was served.  Do you?

What are you thankful for?

30 Days of Thankfulness: Day 2

I am most thankful and grateful for my PARENTS.

My parents have helped me alot with my son, I could NEVER repay them.  When I had to go on travel for my job, they took care of my son for the week.  That's just one example.  There are so many more examples.  They are truly a blessing.

What are you thankful for today?
